Main lesson I've got from low limit tourneys is that poker is a miserable grind and does not remotely approach anything that could be considered "fun".

I was gonna say that!!!

but really
1. DISCIPLINE (still learning)
2. PATIENCE (related to number one...still learning)
3. Reading Skills (i might have this one)
4. Math (lots of hands gives you practice, makes it almost automatic)
5. Interesting hands to post so good players (woodguy, betgo, Exit) can give you feedback on your play.

How to play in 1,000 person + tournaments. WHen you go into those tournaments you will run into a lot of suspect play. You have to be able to walk through that landmine to do well.

I don't think it's an accident that Fossilman has gone deep in th e2 largest fields in poker history. He honed his skill in weekly Foxwoods tournaments and online tournaments taking on players just like the ones who show up in a WSOP final event. The long time pro's are used to smaller fields and professional opponents and need to make adjustments for the satellite survivors that get there these days.
