Fold was fine. 6 handed is not that short a game. CO had to be aware there were 3 other players in the pot and that fact would tend to keep him in line.

Why didn't you CR the flop? You have a big hand, there is only 1 overcard, opponent could be playing a few hands you beat. You can CR the flop, kick the other two players and find out if you are in good shape for 1 SB. There is no flush draw and only a pretty scratchy straight draw (very unlikely). This is a weak play, but would be OK if you have a decent read on your opponent/s (nothing is mentioned...). Against 3 there is a reasonable chance of a Q, do you have any idea what these players cold-call with PF?

You had a great opportunity to CR this flop. This is a big pot and you have probably at least a 30% chance (just a guess) of having the best hand. It's vulnerable, but by CRing, you can get BB and MP to fold their unpaired hands that could draw out on you. If 3-bet, then you can peel one of on the turn and fold if your T doesn't come.

It's a pretty big mistake to not c/r this flop IMO.

Checkraising doesn't solve making the hand any easier the rest of the way, but, it'll improve your chances of winning the pot a ton... If he 3-bets you on the flop then you call and on the turn depending on what comes off you can decide whether to check/call or check/fold. There are a lot of players who will 3-bet with AK on this flop, bet the turn, and then check the river since they become convinced you don't have the idea of folding in your mind... It's a case by case basis but there are many opponents I could feel comfortable with check/calling the turn again, and check/folding the river if they bet it.

thanks all for the comments. not check/raising was an absolutely horrible move. seems pretty obvious now that it's pointed out.

thanks for the feedback.
