beginner - extracting value ? from a minraise

3/6 NL eff. stacks 800

I raise to 24 in MP w/ QQ, CO cold calls, HU to the flop.
Kd Qd 8c

I bet 50 and am minraised. Push now? Villain could have anything here, it's his first hand at the table.

The way I see it is if he has KK you are dead and going to lose your stack so I wouldn't worry about it. You would like to have your opponent make as big of mistake as possible. What hands does he mini raise with? After all, he is not trying to push you out he is trying to create a pot; AK, KQ, 2 diamonds, AA, 88, QQ, 10Jd. I would want a raise that makes drawing inorrect but will not scare off other hands. 2 - 1 is going to be not quite enough even for 10Jd, $300 raise gives him 2 - 1, I agree with the previous poster.

yeah I'm not worried about villain having KK, just looking to make more money. I reraised to 400 and he folded

Push...you'll be facing everything BUT KK enough to expect huge EV here...lord knows I do!

yes, huge EV because all those things besides KK call that push right?

Well...yeah. Two pair, lower set, draws, people who think you're bluffing.

That only makes sense if the villain calls every push, which he won't. You're shooting yourself in the foot by pushing this flop.

Top two pair calls here sometimes. 88 calls here most times. KK calls here every time. Who's going to spend $800 to try and snap off your bluff, though? That's pretty damn unlikely, especially since this is almost never a bluff. Pushing blows away AK, AQ, TJ, flush draws, etc.

We all agree pushing is a bad plan. Since this is a pretty draw heavy board and alot of people would play JT or 2 diamonds this way a reraise is in order here. Make it about 300 and push the turn.
