Misplaying my first Royal

UB 3-6

I limp with AT of spades from early MP.

A LP and the small and big blind calls.

Flop KKJ with the K and J of spades.

check check I bet, but both the LP and the SB calls.

Turn a wonderful queen of spades.

I go in check call mode because of the high hand jackpot. LP bets both the turn and river. The blinds folds on the turn.

For some reason I do not get my jackpot. So I go to the rules and find out, that only the first hand gets it when there is a tie. So some play money player gets 9.75 instead of me getting around 150.

If I had known the rules, maybe I would have mustered the courage to raise the river.

Just to make you feel worse, I believe you only have to get to the river for the UB jackpot.

I don't even think you have to get to the river, I think you just have to make the hand. I had a royal the other day that didn't get it...but I won a big one of about $500 with a 9 high str8 flush or so two months ago.

I did the same thing yesterday. I hit the ten of diamond on the river for the royal flush...didn't bet it the whole way in case it came, hoping to get the $126 jackpot. I hit it with 4 minutes remaining only to find (as you did) that the first hand gets it.

I made one Royal at UB and didn't get a jackpot either. However I was only barely aware of the rules and was just trying to win the pot (which was over $300) at 10-20. Then being the greedy person that I am, I was upset for a split second that I didn't win the couple of hundred dollars extra.

Been there done that...

twice i've tied for high hand. 10 high and royal ofcourse heh. With the increase in traffic at ultimate bet they'll be a ton of more royal hands coming up tied.

Glenn is correct

You don't even need to get to the river. You only need to make the hand, and the software will recognize it. Back in the day when it was possible to win the jackpot with only four of a kind, I hit my four jacks on the turn and checked it down, thinking I needed a showdown to win. My jacks held up for the jackpot at least, even though I probably missed a bet or two.

The jackpot is basically a "Race to the Royal". In fact, I get a kick out of watching the counter cycle madly at the start of every new jackpot until an 8/9 high SF hits, and then it slows down.

To also vent, same thing happend to me, with a 500$ jackpot. They should have another way of building the jackpot. also last night during a nl tourney, I get A10 off, hit check fold and eat my dinner and tune out and it gets checked all the way and I end up with a royal with the 10, and another guy has A high flush, nobody bets, I don't know why he didn't, but I missed out big. Well thats my story.
