2405FPW vs 2001FP

First off, I apologize for yet another monitor thread- I know this has been covered a lot recently.

But I wanted to dedicate one thread to comparing the two. Can somone who has had both tell me just how much better the 2405FPW is?

My situation is this: I've been doing very well recently in poker, and I have the money to treat myself to a nice computer setup. I currently have one 2001FP. I like to 8 or 10 table. I can 8 table on the 2001FP with a lot of overlap(I've worked out a system of placement of the tables where I never hit the wrong button on the wrong table). But I definitely want 2 monitors now since I have the cash to do so.

So I have two options:

1.Buy one more 2001FP. Probably would cost around $450 if I shopped around.

2.Buy two new 2405FWPs. Probably would be about $1500($750 each) but then I could sell my old 2001FP on ebay, so take off $450 or so from that price.

Is the 2405FWP significantly better that it'd be worth the extra money?

Or then theres option 3....is there any other company other than Dell that makes great monitors at such low prices? I probably don't want to spend over $2000 for my entire setup.

P.S. If anyone can point me to the best current deals on these monitors, I'd appriciate it.

They are equal. If I was you I would get another 2001fp. Two of those side to side are wide enough as it is. Don't know why you would want more width and less height.

they are certainly not equal, especially if there are considerations besides poker. the 2405 is MUCH better for DVD/HDTV viewing, since it is widescreen.

also, 2 2405's will allow you to 10 table w/o overlap (w/ tables split between screens), which is impossible on the 2001.

also, the genereal specs of the 2405 are better than the 2001, across the board.

I never bought a 2001; I just went right for the 2405. re: prices, they were selling last week for $700 - that is as low as they have ever been, although prices will keep falling I think. I actually bought one with a Dell 9100, sold the PC, and kept the monitor for a net cost of about $550. this was a little bit of legwork, but I spent $100 more than I would have for the 2001, and ended up with a much better monitor.

very happy.

I was thinking about the 20" widescreen.

If he is planning to get two 24" widescreen monitors, of course that is an upgrade. He would have to sit pretty far from the monitors or have giant strain on his neck.

Didn't read the other responses but I own both and I think the 2405 is significantly better.

The bigger screen really makes a difference for me and better picture quality imo.

i'd say buy one 2405 and keep your 2001

I did consider this, but from a pure asthetics(sp?) point of view, don't you think it would look a whole lot nicer if I had matching monitors?

how much better is the picture quality?

I don't watch movies or anything like that on my computer, but if it looks significantly nicer then that would, of course, be a plus.

Re: 2405FPW vs 2001FP

i tried 10 tabling using 3 monitors (2001f, 1701f, 17" CRT) with the last 2 tables on the CRT.

and tables on the crt time out more often because i dont concentrate on them as much because it only has 2 tables.

6 tables on the 2405 and 4 tables on the 2001f would be optimal for me.

but until i hear confirmations that people with new Party accts have been paid their OCT rakeback, i'm not playing much, and will just wait on a new monitor.

I am not a super techie and basically use my monitor to play poker so the only thing I can tell you is I notice a pretty significant difference.

I gave away my old monitor to a family member and when he sees mine, he comments that mine is much better and he wishes he had one.

Not sure if that is really helpful.
