Overs are hard to play, ideas?

villain is 45 vpip, 0 pfr, and 1.3 af after 50 hands. Seeing as he is fairly aggressive, I was thinking he could be betting a draw on the flop. What do you think? Too aggressive on my part?

I was thinking maybe check the turn through and let him bluff the river might have been a better line here. Thoughts?

Call the flop.

Fold the turn.

Turn: Check > Fold

I usually have the same problem, it's alot read dependent. Does he give up when faced a turn bet if he missed? Or is he in check/call mode because he connected a little? Or doesn't he give up at all, no matter what he has? Does he check/call with TP?
I always try to answer these questions in similar situations.

edit: the problem with turn check is that he might bet the river. If you bet the turn he might fold right away and the chance is higher that you get a free showdown. So you have to spend 1BB for SD with the extra chance of winning at the turn. If you bet the turn and he hits the river or bets it anyways, you're shafted so again, a bit read dependend.

Is my reasoning somewhat correct or am i off the line?

Re: Overs are hard to play, ideas?

You raised the flop and succeeded in getting your opponent to check it to you for only an extra small bet. This might not have been the best place for this move as the board is very scary for just overcards with no other draws. I would have called here and check/fold the turn unimproved.

In this case you've saved yourself a big bet and taken control of the hand for the turn. Your bet on the turn can only beat a bluff and UTG has shown that he's got at least something here - you're almost sure he'll call down to the river. UTG has already proven that he'll play many more starting hands than you will and he may have a small pair here or he might be on a draw. Check behind and take the free card, Check-fold the river unimproved.

Note that villain is actually pretty aggressive, despite the little fish floating under his name. This probably wasn't the best time to try the free card play.

That's all I had to add. Like everybody else, I call the flop and fold the turn.

With 45/0/1.3 it is damn near impossible to get a meaningful read on villain's hand. Even that he limped UTG means little.

If you do follow previous advice here and check the turn - calling a river bet here is not the worst thing. Is it?
