I agree. You must reraise preflop.

Hell, he needs to raise PF. The BB is 150.

This play is total weak/calling station

I'll try to be constructive, not critical, but frankly it's hard since I think you misplayed this at every opportunity.

Ok, so you're gonna get tricky with AK & not raise pf. I hate this move, but I know it works for some people. It ONLY makes sense if you're trying to get someone to overplay their AQ, AJ or AT on an ace-high flop. It gives you no clue about the hands you're up against & makes the rest of the rounds that much harder to play.

So you get the flop you want... (Actually you have no idea if this is the flop you want considering that you didn't raise pf. You could be against 93 in the bb.)

Someone bets 1/2 the pot. What do you think they would do this with? Do you want them to see another card with those hands? People might bet 1/2 the pot with their flush draw, their Ax suited, a set, two pair, etc. It could also be a complete bluff. You need to find out where you are in this hand right now. Folding would be horrible - but only slightly worse than calling, so...

The board pairs the 9. This is really bad for you, obviously. The bet by the EP player is interesting. $500 into a $1200 pot. A strange bet. If you've been overly weak/passive, it could be a flush draw hoping to push you out here. There are lots of hands you are behind & all of them are possible. Your lack of aggression has set you up - someone with a 9 might be betting just because they're afraid you'll check.

Now, the river. If they were on a flush draw, they hit. If they weren't on a flush draw, they must have a full house because they're obviously not afraid of the flush. I see people make this move on a bluff, but there are now so many hands that beat you. I hate to fold after having put in so many of your chips, but there are no more cards to come & I think you're beat.

Can you try to explain what you were thinking - I'd love to get inside your head since every decision you made was the opposite of what I would do.

Horribly on all streets. Do you WANT him to catch up?

Napawino,

I just wanted to thank you for your insights here. It was very helpful to hear your thoughts and not just be told "this is what you should do". I'm not being critical of others since they answered his question "what do you think of my play" fairly bluntly. You just took a lot of time and I think made someone a better poker player by doing it.

My best.

Lloyd
