Taking nyquil every night

I have chronic insomnia, I can't get to sleep on my own unless I'm dead tired and it usually results in me getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night, which I don't function well on. Lately I've been taking nyquil every night that I have to wake up for work and it works fantastic, but I'm wondering if there is a long term problem with taking it regularly?

BTW, I didn't google this because I know that a medical site isn't going to "recommend" it, but I want to know if its really anything to worry about.

eh, this sucks... i have the same problems.

after about 2weeks it will wear off. then you will start popping tylenol pms... which work for a week. you can up the dosage but it keeps wearing off...

you need to get some ambien or soma. they work wonders. or just stay up for 48 hours and sleep for 10, repeat.

It's booze, bro. Inteferes with REM sleep. Try to find something else.

This helps a little bit, I'm going to try to do it more often.

I have heard that the Nyquil thing is a bad idea. Supposedly habit forming.

I also have sleep problems. I usually take Melatonin. It helps a little bit, but is not nearly as effective as the Nyquil. Other than that, a little weed seems to help.

Try valerian root or melatonin. Both can work great. Valerian root usually has its effect wear off after a few days, so you have to cycle in and out of it. Both are easy to find at a health food store or a decent drugstore.

what does cycle in and out mean exactly? also, just to clarify, i dont have insomina. i just am a fool and stay up too late, so if there was something i could take at 12pm that would make me verrrry sleeepppyyy that would be it.
