Placing A Large Bet in Vegas - Question
 

Let's say (hypothetically) that I want to bet $100,000 on one game, and that $100,000 is currently sitting in my checking account. I don't live in Vegas, but would place the bet there, and would be able to be there for a few days before / after the game.

What is the best way to go about getting this bet down? I'm assuming that my first step would have to be to wire the money to a casino in Vegas.

From there, what do I do? My main questions:

1. Is there any advantage to spreading the bet between different books (i.e. 4 $25,000 bets)? Not withstanding line differences.

2. If I wire the money to Bellagio, and stroll up to the window, can I put it all down and tell them the money is in the cage?

3. How often will they decline to accept my bet?

4. How much additional paperwork, identification will be required?

5. If I decide to spread it between several casinos, what is the best way to go about moving the money?

6. If I win, what paperwork do I need to sign, if any?

I may have more questions, but that will get me started.

For anything other than the Super Bowl, almost 100%. If you are a known player, then you might be able to get away with it a little more often, but that's obviously not the case here.

The larger books have max bets in the 10K-25K range. That was in 2000, when I lived there, and it's probably not half that nowadays.

Again, that was the larger books. The smaller books were 5K or less.

AND THAT WAS THE NFL. If you're talking about a different sport, divide all those numbers by about 4.

Most sportsbook supervisors are instructed to throw out anyone who wants to bet real money, and push the parlay cards.

If I had 100K to get down on a game, I'd open a Neteller account, and go offshore.

Thanks for the responses...I had no idea that it was so restrictive.

I do have a Neteller account, and a small online account with SportingbetUSA. Would you really trust that route for action of that size?

I'm completely comfortable with online poker and online banking, so I guess this isn't THAT big of a step, but seems a little shaky.

i would feel comfortable with a large amount of money in a sportsbook like bodog, or the one thats attached to paradise poker. im sure they are worth a [censored] ton more than 100k

If you put the 100K one shot on 1 bet and win they will tax you when you win the money. Your best bet is to spread the money all over town to different casinos. It also depends which game you are betting on too...if you are betting on a small game like UCIrivne vs Northridge they might red flag you.
