table charge

Hello. I played my first live no limit holdem game recently, at the Foxwoods. The game was 1/2 with a max 100 dollar buy-in. This game featured a table charge, as opposed to a rake which I'm used to. The charge was $5 every half-hour. This seemed exorbitant. Am I just cheep? What would a reasonable charge be?

Thanks for any input you can give.

Morgan

9 people at the table: Casino makes 45$ off of this.

30 hands/hour and the rake per hand would be avg. of 1 (I've never played at a casino, just going by hearsay, let me know if this is incorrect). So the total would be 30$. So they make an extra 15 I guess.

That seems pretty high to me, but that is why I play online.

At $2BB, if you are a consistent player, you should make at a minimum $20/100. A fast NLHE game will run at 50 hands/hr.

So if you are making only $10/hr and get charged $10/hr rake, that is a very tough vig to overcome. I pass.

Thanks for the reply. But I want to note the charge is per half-hour . So the casino is making 90 an hour.

Best,

10 people/table, too, so they're taking a full buyin ($100) off the table every hour.

And despite all that, its still pretty easy to make a longterm profit in that game.

And to think I was counting down the days until my 21st BDay for that...oh well, only 250ish days until TS!

I agree the game is beatable even with the time charge.

It would be nice if they would allow you to buyin back to $100 more often. Currently you can only rebuy when you drop below $40. It does seem unfair when you are stuck in the $60 range and some players may have several hundred.
