Play Money to Real Money Transition--Thoughts?

Am just about ready to jump in and get my feet wet. Have had a good run playing 5-10 for grins and was wondering what a shock I am in for playing for keeps. Ran $250 to $23,500 in about 5 weeks. I know how unrealistic that would be for real. I have been playing mostly tight and everyone else is mostly insanely loose.

Rating my strengths, on a scale of 100, I come up with:

Pot odds/draw calculations--90
Starting hands--90
Hand reading--60
Disipline--95
Position & blind-stealing--needs work

Beginning bankroll will be around $250. Would 2/4 be too rich to start?

Any thoughts, suggetions and advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

Try .5/1 or even .25/.5 with $250.

$2/$4 would be way to rich - 2 sessions and you could be done

$250 ~ $300, so you would be okay for $.50/$1 - assuming Limit.

If it's NL you would be underfunded for that, and woudl need to step down even more.

It's a decent bankroll for 0.5/1

With a $250 starting BR, start out at .25/.50 just to get the practice of real money play in.

When you get that 250 up to 300, take a stab at .5-1.

Use the almighty rule of 300BB's for a bankroll from there on out (i.e. a bankroll for a full game of 1-2 should be about 600).

Start with 0.5/1, with 2/4 you stand too much of a risk of losing it all even if you are playing well. If you do well at 0.5/1, then you can move up the ladder to 1/2. Welcome to the forums.

Play money is completely different because people's pre-flop play is insanely loose. I can get 1k up to 30k in a few hours with play money.

If you play tight/aggressive at micro stakes, you should be fine.
