This makes me feel gross, but feels right.

100NL on Bodog.

Aggro Villian raises to 3.50 preflop.
Hero reraises to 8.00 with QQ.
Villian pushes for $140.00
Hero goes into the tank and folds.

I did this twice yesterday and I sort of just shook my head and folded. I could never imagine myself folding this 6 months ago, but these overbets are a joke sometimes. Are you calling this with QQ/KK/AA or just KK/AA?

depends on the villain.

I take your line, and like your fold, if I'm OOP to the original raiser. If I have position, I flat call his raise w/ QQ and play poker.

Nothing wrong with folding without a read here. If villain is an idiot then you will get his stack eventually.

it took me forever to get away from the notion that if i get a good hand pf that i've got to go to the felt with it.

if youre patient you'll get the villain in a situation again where you can stack them.

And depends on what hero's been doing so far in other hands at the table (not necessarily hands against this villain).

If a) I've been getting a lot of mediocre raising hands that I've folded to a 3-bet

OR b) Villain's been pushing every single time he's raised over 15 - 20 hands (again, not necessarily hands I've been involved with)

OR c) This is the third or fourth time in a row that villain's pulled this crap against ME

THEN I'm going to lean towards calling.

If none of the above applies then I'm gonna fold and make it a point to start keeping track of what this particular villain is doing so I can find the right opportunity to take his stack later.

Hero covers the table if that matters. Image is TAG.

I think the point that Beavens and I are both trying to make is this: WHY is villain pushing like this? The answer to this question will tell you whether you can/should call or not. It may be that villain is trying to push you out of the hand, in which case you want to call. It may be that villain has a premium hand like AA, in which case you need to run. The problem, of course, is that you can never know for sure what villain actually wants, so you have to make an educated guess. The more information you consider, the more accurate your guess is likely to be.

The bottom line is that QQ is a pretty solid hand. All things being equal, the decision of whether to call or not is almost a coinflip. You're ahead of most pairs, behind AA and KK and 50/50ish against AK. The only way to make this decision is based on your reads - what your opponent is like, what your play has been like, what the rest of the table's been like, etc.

To be honest, I don't think any of us can tell you how you should have played this hand, at least not with any certainty. We weren't there and we don't have enough information. Knowing that villain's stack covers the table isn't enough, knowing that your image is TAG isn't enough. There are just way too many variables.

All we can do is point out the things that we would have tried to consider when playing this hand.
