2ip addresses on 1 comp?

Someone recently mentioned that your ISP assigns your computer it's IP address. Does that mean that if I use the same comp with 2 different ISP's, say AOL and earthlink, I'll have a different IP address for each of the 2 interent providers.

Yes. Assuming you're on dial-up.

Why wouldn't this work if you had a cable connection and a DSL connection or dial up?

I think if you have two cable providers, your cable modem has it's own ISP, not your comp. not sure.

Anyways I'm asking because my roomate wants a PP account, but I don't want to go through the hassle of getting flagged, or having my bonuses taken away. Obviously won't be colluding on just one comp. Anyone know if once I get her account set up and deposited into, if we will be in the clear when she signs in on my comp with her own ISP?

I was thinking about this too. If you want to share an internet connection with your roommate are you unable to both play at Party then?

betadecay:
The IP your cable provider gives you usually lasts for awhile. If you change the connection the reset your IP you'll be ok. If you each have "your own" connection you'll be fine.

mindriot:
party also analyzises the NAT data in each packet, so it knows if you're coming from different computers behind the same firewall/router.

Easy to do. Please don't collude with yourself.
