stud STT question

Is folding (A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]) 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] too tight for most tournament situations?

Obviosuly I realize tournametns are completely situational, but please consider this in general.

Thanks

Re: stud STT question

There are places I'd play this. But this should frequently be a turbo fold. In order to play this in a tourney you will have to be at a freaking tight table.

I would fold this every time unless I think I can steal with it.

This would apply to ring games as well.

Thanks for the input.
I thought this is a real easy fold, but I have seen many people play this like it was gold and was questioning my understanding of the game.
Thanks again.

this is a good sign that alot of the people you are playing against are holdem players, have fun.

Re: stud STT question

You want hold'em players in your stud games.

You want stud players in your hold'em games.

AK is a hold'em hand. In hold'em, you get three cards all at once to see if you make a pair, and that pair will more often than not be good. In stud, you have to pay for each card individually, and one pair isn't going to hold up nearly as often as it does in hold'em. That Five is a real clunker. You might play this as a steal, or you might limp in late if it's cheap, but apart from that, fold hands like this without a second thought.
