Getting around web filters at work

I've been surfing the web while I work for the past 5 years; I set up something on the computer and while it crunches the numbers (which is over 5 minutes regularly) I surf. Now all of the sudden, certain website categories are blocked by this program called "Web Sense". WTF do they expect me to do all day? Work? pfft!! These catagories include gambling, games, entertainment, and I assume porn (i dont do porn at work) I'm only guessing here, but I assume that these catagories are part of the webpage meta tagging.

Does anyone know of a way to get around this blocker? There used to be a website called www.silentsurf.com that would allow you to surf through itself, and get around firewalls. Is there something like this available now?

I found it very helpful to my poker game, over the past 6 months, to read the various forums during the day, and then play at night. Now I have to surf/play at the same time. This is definately -EV, and makes working 8 hours even more of a drag.

I have the same problem with Websense - it really, really ticked me off.

Wanna know a secret though? Type in forumserver.twoplustwo.com, click on "Go here," and then you're set. twoplustwo.com is a blocked site, but for some reason, forumserver.twoplustwo.com works fine.

I use megaproxy while at work. Keeps a fully encrypted connection and prevents caching on your local computer.

If your home PC is windows and on broadband, set up remote desktop on port 443. 443 is typically https protocol, so to your IT dept, it looks you're just browsing a secure website. Nobody on my network would get away with that, but a lot of IT dept's are really clueless..

Check out http://anonymouse.org/

I used to use it back in college to browse filtered webpages. It should do the trick.

Try https://www1.stday.com ... I know for a fact it is not blocked by Websense. Just change the address in the center from http://www.dajiyuan.com/index.htm to whatever site you want to access.
