Top 3 basic SNG mistakes

Thought it might be interesting to start this topic as without doubt I am sure everyone will have a different opinion

My top 3 are:

1) Calling small pairs in early position LEVEL 3 onwards - End up either having to fold pre flop or miss flop.

2) Overplaying AK/AQ - Usual scenario where you miss a flop and bet it, walking into a made hand or simply calling an all in pre flop early.

3) Playing low suited aces early - Just waisting too many bets playing these, once in a while might make 2 pair or a flush but anything is very dodgy and costs me a lot of chips

I occasionally still do all of the above 3

doh

Would be really interested to hear everyone elses

yea I don't think #1 is really a mistake depending on your situation. In the first two rounds i will limp from any position with small pocket pairs.

Have edited the post lads, from level 3 onwards with small pocket pairs. I see where u are coming from early on with blind so small. What are your top 3's?

This is a very basic top 3 for the general SNG population. I think you'd compile a completly different list if you're talking about just 2+2ers

1) playing too many hands pre-flop
2) chasing with drawing hands
3) see #1

Re: Top 3 basic SNG mistakes

1. Failing to make an effort to put opponent on a hand and acting on the basis of the strength of my hand alone.
2. Assuming that all my opponents are morons (actually I think that should be morans). Particularly levels 1-3.
3. Assuming that all my opponents are genii. Particularly levels 4-6.

Do you think pushing when not necessary should be on this list for 2+2'ers? Or not pushing when you should with any 2?

I'm not sure, but for me it's most likely the later.

I really have to agree with number 1 and thinking about it I would have that in my top 3
