Disregard for money?

I saw some Phil Ivey interview recently and remember him saying you need a basic disregard for money to be a good poker player.

Agree? Disagree?

I think I agree 100%. I also think having a disregard for the amounts that you play with is really key. Lately I have been buying in for really strange amounts at all my games so that I cannot keep tight track of win/loss. Instead I am just attempting to focus purely on making key decisions and utilizing reads more.

Does anyone still use tilt blocker? This is sort of my ghetto version to make me avoid noticing how much I am up/down, only having a general idea where I stand.

Agree 100%

Once you can separate a $20 bet from a $20 bill, you are on the right path.

I can't imagine the people that play 50/100 and up, because you can gain/lose 10k in 10 minutes. At that level, a 2BB bluff raise is $200 which is serious cash. If you can still keep the mindset of 2BB's then you will succeed.

I think that getting better at this comes with experience.

Get Tiltblocker if you need it.

Disregard for money that my opponents have is quite important.

I buy in for 50 bbs now. I think for me at least, the initial stages of tilt would creep in when a few of my tables dropped below 15 bbs or so and I needed to rebuy. With 50 bbs I need to rebuy much left often, so it's actually just funny now. I think dropping 10 bbs is so easy and common that it could mess with my head, especially since the opposite times I was up 10 bbs is so immemorable.

classic.

With regards to tilt blocker, I think it sucks and would never consider using it. I don't have a big problem with tilt very often. I think it was baronzeus I was making fun of some time back for using it.

I agree. I'm not in that state at the moment, just starting to play again after a long break, 1-2 months maybe because i started college. But i am trying to make some time to play poker daily now.
Tiltblocker really helps me get back into it.
