Martingale Betting on TV

Man vs Vegas

That link is to a thread about Man vs Vegas. Its a tv show that is currently going. The guy on the show uses the martingale betting system as he always bets more whenever he loses. He has a pretty big bankroll and is playing most games. I think its the closest thing to testing the martingale betting system in real life with a pretty big bankroll.

To the people that have watched the show. What do you guys think so far? I mean im not 100% certain its the martingale betting system, but its close. I mean he bets more when he loses, until he reaches the table max, but im not sure.

I don't get it, why do you need to test the martingale system in real life? It's easier just to use maths or computer simulation.

Most likely he gets more money for the TV show than he loses at the table.

The guy also ups his bets when he wins. He's a total action junkie and nothing more. The guy is just a typical gambler who happens to be making much larger bets than most could afford. The premise of the show is that he is trying to win back money that he lost to the casinos in the late 90's, about 3 million dollars. The guy is nuts. He shows no self control, makes crazy plays, and I have no doubt that the casinos will eventually rape him.

Aside from that, the show is pretty entertaining and I do like the fact that when he sits down with some low rollers and they root him on and he wins, he will give them a pretty big percentage of his win. It really makes their day, so I dig that.
But considering he loses most of the time and when he wins, he's giving away about 25% of his win, he's going to lose in the long run.

I don't know a job where I gamble away a million dollars, give money away to a bunch of low stakes players and then at the end a television stations pays me millions for a doing it. Sounds plenty +EV.

No way they are paying this guy anywhere close to a million dollars.

I'd do it for airfare, expenses, and a couple lucky bucks.

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!

Everytime this guy wins, he says that. I saw 2 episodes of the show this weekend and I can't get that damn saying out of my head.

Oh, and he also says "MONKEY" a lot too.

Dude is an idiot if he thinks he's going to get rich form the casinos and/or the show, which is on CMT so no more than 136 people are watching it.
