my first hand posted here

I wanted to get some opinions on my bust-out hand from the WSoP M.E.

23:30pm, Saturday Heat 1C, Level VI with $200/$400 blinds, and $50 antes.
I am on the button with about $6,500 and find Ac, Qc
for those who have read HOH II, my M=5.45, almost in the red zone.
UTG calls, UTG+1calls, and it is folded around to me.
both players have me out chipped by 8-1 margins.
I believe both players involved are better than me.

I raise pre-flop an addtional 1,200.
both blinds fold, original two callers call again; pot is now 5,900.
flop come 8-5-2 rainbow

two checks to me, and I bet 1,500
utg folds
utg+1 thinks a little, then re-raises to 3,000
My stack is down to 3,350 now.
I think about for about 1 to 2 minutes, and then shove all in.
He calls after a brief deliberation. and turns over pocket sevens.
no A or Q on the turn or river and I am gone.

I vote all-in preflop. AQs needs some help, and I'm more than happy to pick up a couple calls and the blinds. Second option: push on the flop.

Welcome aboard.

With your short stack push BTF. Your raise to 1200 with
two limpers is insignificant. Either push, which I think
is the best move, or limp, don't make a raise which will not get you the pot. With your raise you are giving your opponents good odds to call.

I don't know what the table was like passive / aggressive etc. But with 2 ep limpers, you need to be a bit suspicious. You have a good starting hand, but one that needs flop help, and plays well multi-way. Unless you think the blinds would raise, I would consider limping in on the button. You could then get away from an unfavourable flop without hurting your stack. And if you hit, you are in posiition in a multi-way pot.

That said, there is nothing wrong with a standard raise PF in your position, except you get just about pot comitted. Your small continuation bet on the flop looks suspicious, but prices them in, and with you short stacked, they know there is limited implied risk. A open push on the flop while reckless, would have had more folding equity.

I know the limp recommendation is pretty weak, but IMHO you are more likely to double up by seeing flops cheap and hitting, than by out manuevering big stacks when you are short and you miss.

Well... looks like my vote is the idea of everyone.

Push preflop

This is very bad advice. A standard preflop raise with two
limpers is basically worthless. All it does is make the pot bigger. Either push or fold.

I'll join the Push Preflop chorus. The pot is $1600 when it gets to you, and $3200 after you raise. The limpers are getting more than sufficient odds to call, which is not really what you want with AQs. Thus your raise was certainly too small, and if you're going to raise any more with such a small stack, you may as well push.

Plus, you want to see all 5 cards with this hand, and you may not be able to with just a small preflop raise.
