BB defense with 58s

Villian here is 50/6/1, he's very loose and moderately passive. Haven't played a whole bunch of hands against him, so I have no reads specific to certain situations other than what has already been mentioned. Background on me: I am a 2/4 full player who is taking occasional shots at 6 max games. Mostly 3/6, but 5/10 when I can find good tables. This was one of those tables, everyone at 50/5 or something similar. So, is this standard or horrible?

This is a fold pre-flop. That being said, I think your play is fine until the river where you need to check-fold.

Re: BB defense with 58s

On the river, bet/fold and check/fold are both better than check/call. If you really think he's passive, then check/fold, but keep in mind that high VPIP usually means lower AF. (e.g. An AF of 1 here is not that passive.) I'm leaning toward bet/fold.

As for pre-flop, if this guy is PFR of 6% at a 6 max table, then this is probably a legitimate raise and even if it is a steal raise I am not crazy about defending with 8 high, suited or no. Fold it and move on.
