you're only beating a PURE bluff dude....given that flop was pretty undrawheavy, he probably isn't bluffing a missed draw; the ONLY thing you beat here is like JT or JQ trying to get you off a loan ace that's pretty unlikely imo

I thought about this too and am not sure. I think bet may be better because AJ checks behind a lot.

i think if you bet $600 on this river i feel much happier about bet/calling because (a) some hands will raise for value (aces up basically) which you beat and (b) you will be bluff raised far more often by a middle PP.

I agree with this line of reasoning and I think $800 was a poor bet size unless I fold to the all in. What would you think of an even smaller bet on the order of 1/4 or 1/3 pot to induce a bluff raise?

I'm not sure what the optimal river line is, but I think check-calling and betting small and calling an all in are both superior to my line. I also think I should have folded to the all-in because it's virtually impossible for him to have a worse hand.
