AA top set question

You have AA on the button. There are 4 limpers and you raise it to 5x the BB. 3 of them call you. The flop is AT9 two diamonds. It is checked around to you.
Do you overbet to allow a hand like TT and 99 to play back at you, and so that drawing hands cannot draw?
Do you pot-size bet to try to make it look like AK, or even some routine continuation bet?
Or do you weak lead to try to make it look like your KK or QQ has missed?

I just pot sized bet it here. It protects your hand, and I dont waste my time thinking "if i bet 20 he'll give me action... but 25 he will make teh laydown"

If you bet your big hands and everyone folds there's usually not any magic you could do to make them go all in.

Re: AA top set question

it's really read dependent. No reads, I make the bet pot-sized. Against a thinking / aggressive player I consider the overbet if I've shown down an overbet bluff before. The trouble with the overbet on a board with an obvious draw is that it can look like "I have a big hand and I'm tired of getting sucked out on" -- pot-sized is my default.

2nd reply got it right. If I have someone that thinks I'm a crazy bluffer (which happens quite a bit despite my 16/7/3 stats) then I weak lead hoping for a CR. Depending on stack depths, I either call here and raise the turn all in, or 3 bet and get the rest in on the turn.

Re: AA top set question

I do a pot size raise.

Question: If you are re-raised. Do you
A) push
B) 3 bet
C) call

I would think I push, because Im ahead at this point. Would anyone call to see if another diamond comes on the turn? What do you do if a diamond comes on the turn?

Just make your standard bet. If they can beat AK you can bet/3-bet and dance a jig afterwards.

overbet and make them pay to see the turn. More often i'm seeing weak players call anything preflop and try to hit a flush on suited hole cards. If a third diamond hits on the turn, then proceed with caution. If everyone checked to you, someone is hoping to catch a flush on the turn. Put them on a decision for all of their chips.

bet pot-sized

its checked to you

Re: AA top set question

this question is very stacksize dependent. if a push is awkward, I call and lead blank turn again because thats what I do with say AK on these type of flops.

if turn completes flush, I check call typically.

In response to caz:

You must push/three bet (depending on stacks and size of raise) if reraised. If you call and then a diamond falls on the turn, are you folding? Why would you be afraid to get your money in with the best hand?
