Blind Structure For Home Tourney
 

I want to host a two-table, 16 player home tourney that will end approximately after three and one-half hours.

In my group, we usually play eight players at T2500 and 15 minute blinds of 25/50, 50/100, 75/150, 100/200, 150/300, 200/400, 300/600, 400/800, etc . . .

We can usually get in two such tourneys w/in a four hour period.

My question is this: if I use the same blind structure, what is the deepest stack that we could start w/and still end between 3-4 hours. I'd like to start w/20 minute blinds and increase to 15 in second half if needed if the tourney is going too slow.

Not sure how to structure a two-table tourney based on how fast we play two single-table tourneys. I assume I can't just double the stacks and assume we'll finish in the desired time frame. But how much above $2500 can I go?

Anything that takes less than 3 hours is not a tourney, its a satellite or a turbo. Start with 1500 chips, blinds start at 10/20 go up by 5 every 45 minutes or 30 until hitting 25 then double every round. You will ned up with a 4-5 hour tourney that will allow for post flop play. The arrangement you have is just about at crapshoot level after level 3 for half the table.

You're making this much too difficult. Just start with T4000 in chips with blinds increasing every 20 minutes (maybe 30).

I don't disagree. But that is how the group likes to play.

Thanks. One group member had suggested T4000 w/20 minute blinds.

I tryed to do a tourney at my home we were 14 but i only had 500 chips
50 -100$
50 - 50$
100 - 25$
150 - 5$
150 - 1$

to do ur structure i guess i need to buy more chips ...

but what does the <T> in T4000 mean?

T = tournament. It distinguishes the amounts wagered or won as having no cash value in and of themselves, as opposed to chips used in a ring game, where it would be correct to say, "I had $250 in chips before that last hand." It drives some people crazy to hear TV announcers say things like, "He just put another thirty-five thousand dollars into that pot on a stone bluff, Vince!" because those chips aren't worth zip.

we start with 1500, and go upevery 15 and usally a 18 man tournament is wrapped up in 2.5-3 hours
5/10, 10/20, 20/40, 40/80, 50/100, 100/200, 200/400, 300/600, 500/1000 then double from there.
Some think it is a crap should from 400/800 on though

I decided to do T3000 and 20 minute blinds. Will see how it goes. And, yes, once the blinds get huge at the upper levels, it does become a crap shoot, even if you play well. Given the short time frame, you have no choice but to gamble at the end if you survive to that point.
