A question mark in the subject heading would have been appropriate. There are going to be a lot of people opening this thread to read your review.

That would be the reason for the 400+ page views as of the time of my reply and only 4 replies to this thread.

Re Review

while it is said "there are no bad poker books" because they all make you think, i believe there are bad poker books. SS2 is not a bad book, however, the bar was raised by books like small stakes hold em and harrington on hold em. these two books go into great depth on their subject. in SS2's defense it covers too many games to reach that level of depth. therefore, it is only an Ok poker book. you will pick up one or two things, which certainly make the purchase worth it, but as a poker book it leave much to be desired. i am not certain who it is aimed at. in many chapters you need to knopw the game well to understand the deeper meaning that the author implies, in other chapters it seems written for an even less advanced player. again, i would suggest picking it up and reading it, but it can not compare to many other poker books like:
the theory of poker
small stakes hold em
hold em for advanced players
harrington on hold em
middle limit hold em
etc.
the first super system changed the poker world by taking about "power poker" (being aggressive), this will not have the same effect. still as a poker player, i am happy to have it, especially in hard cover.

I'd like to hear someone review jennifer harman's chapter on limit HE.

Re: Re Review

i thought that chapter was interesting. however, it is only about 80 pages. therefore, unless you have a strong background and can read between the lines, there is little, if any, new information in that chapter. it does give you a view of the way jennifer plays, which is interesting. what is there is clear, but not on the level of books like hold em for advance players, or even middle limit hold em.

Re: Re Review

i thought it was exceptional. I thought the chapters on triple draw and limit holdem were the best. I didnt think the stud chapters really added that much from the first version, though they are still very good.

My only issue is with the Chinese poker chapter. Maybe it is because i don't play at those stakes, but i tend to disagree with a few of the big points.

Hi Jay:

Did you read the book? The reason I ask is that the copy of SS2 I have doesn't have a Chinese Poker chapter.

best wishes,
Mason
