PLO8 - Anyone call this hand preflop?

Anyone call this hand preflop?

Damn ugly hands throw a lot of money in.

Unless you are 100% certain you can get this HU, I think it's an easy fold with a raise and reraise in front of you. Your low draw is bad, you have no suits, your only hand is AA.

I'd raise the max when the action got to me. AAxy where x is a low is a significant winner in my database. Only AAxx with two low sidecards wins more per hand. If you can get heads up, you have a pretty decent edge. (Especially if you can get called by J287 or whatever the guy had)

Hmm, tough spot.

Yes, AA is a big winner, but it's pretty likely both other AA are gone. And with 3 others jamming, someone has to have a non-ace hand, which makes me think 2345, KKJT, etc. so i think your low will almost never be good either. Without flushes i think fold might be correct here, but it depends a bit on opponents.

If you are certain the initial raiser and caller are going to call a re-reraise from you (with your AAxx), then maybe it's best to give it up. But by raising the max the first time the action arrives at you, you ought to be able to get heads up with the A23K hand.

Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 500000 sampled boards
cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV
2s Ac 3c Kd 148967 171667 328333 0 232356 8547 5676 0.478
6s 9c Ad Ah 172850 328333 171667 0 24697 152581 5676 0.522

If one of these other guys is stupid enough to call a rereraise (and it looks like they might--also stupid isn't the right word, Bongo wins substantially at the 2k game, so I suspect he's just jacking off at this level) your equity does get screwed up

Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 500000 sampled boards
cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV
2s Ac 3c Kd 120450 129899 367690 2411 237888 11897 7603 0.431
6s 9c Ad Ah 88340 176637 321377 1986 19268 156972 5039 0.285
5d 2d Jh 9h 84448 189067 306536 4397 11399 142982 2602 0.284

but I think you've just got to make the reraise and expect to get heads up.

With a raise and call in front of me and with only AA (bad low not suited) I figured I'd just call the raise from the button. Give me a better low (2,3,4) and/or a suited A, I'd raise it back. Once the raising started after me, I bailed. Worked out in hindsight though. Kind of the opposite of a hand I posted earlier where a naked AA would have held up.

Re: PLO8 - Anyone call this hand preflop?

Your reasoning could be sound, if these specific players were the type to rarely get out of line. But Bongo is a majorly loose aggressive player... I have him at about VPIP 45 PFR 25. When a player like that pots it preflop--regardless of position--it means very little. The fact that someone raised behind him may mean you'll end up against another (possibly better) AAxx, but I'd definitely be willing to take that chance many times, and raise the pot every time in this spot.

BTW, if you weren't aware of this player's tendencies, definitely pick up a copy of PTO--this is exactly where it'll help you make sound gametime decisions.

Re: PLO8 - Anyone call this hand preflop?

I do use PTO w/ PokerAce and have about the same stats for Bongo. Im1uponu appears to be better player (20% VPIP/PFR 6%) and Harman75 is pretty much an unknown (only 26 hands in PTO). I figured at best it would be a 3way pot (4 if bongo calls) and me with AA (I assumed the others were out), bad low (A6), a weak str8 draw (69) and no flush option; too much of a crapshoot to bet most of my stack on.
