Will they like the craziness of Times Square? Do they like museums? Have they been there before? Will they ride the subway? Will they want to see Ground zero, Trinity Church or the Brooklyn Bridge? what kind of food do they like? 5-star dining or Olive garden quality (or in between)?

Post some info and I think you will get a better quality of responses.

Producers are a tough ticket - you'll probably have to go to a re-seller and pay a lot (although they're a little bit easier now that Broderick/Lane are not starring).

The Marriott Marquis is right in TS and is nice, so is the W Hotel (which is a little more trendy and probably pricier). There is a Hilton on 7th in the low 50's which is also close. Ton of decent restaurants, just check CitySearch or Zagat.

It really comes down to how much you want to spend it total. A night in NYC, two tix and dinner could easily run $600+. At the minimum.

Get ready to spend ~$400 a night on a semi-decent hotel. Even Comfort Inns run $300 a night. Or, if you're loaded, just go for the Waldorf.

You might be able to snag the Producers if its a Thursday night show or the Saturday afternoon. Current other big show in NYC right now seems to be Mamma Mia. If they're into steak, you can't go wrong with Sparks or Peter Luger's, although Lugers is in Brooklyn and accept cash only.

If they're easily entertained by bright lights, Times Square is definitely the place to be. Otherwise, a nice fifth avenue hotel overlooking Central Park is very pricy, but very nice.

Sounds like a perfectly legitimate establishment.

sub,

Where are they coming from, how long are they going to be in NYC, and how much are you looking to spend (ballpark)?

New Hampshire (i am questioning whether or not to fly them into NYC from Boston or not. Its only a 5 hour ride or so from NH, plus they have a dog so that would be a hassle getting on the plane)

i planned on doing a mid week thing, because my mom doesnt work and my step paw can get time off at will. figuired the prices would be cheaper and shows easier to get tickets to. dunno, 3-4 days perhaps?

ill spend around $1,000 for the room, show, dinner. the rest is up to them.

There was an article in the NYTimes last week titled "10 New York Hotels for Under $250 a Night" Here is the link. Lugers is highly recommended. Though there are other lesser steakhouses that are pretty good too in the city.

Also, if it's not a big deal, you can get tickets to Broadway shows the day of through the TKTS stand in Times Square.
