2 hands

i haven't played poker in nearly a month so i'm feeling like i'm really rusty. my reads have been way off today in terms of calling down and trying to make plays and i'm going to quit soon.

5 handed 80/160 game on ub.

a relatively uninteresting player opens utg. i'm next up and 3-bet AcKh. blinds get out of the way. utg calls.

flop: T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

He checks. I bet. He raises. I call.

turn: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

he bets. i raise. he calls.

river: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

he checks. i bet. he checkraises. i folded.

hand 2:

5 handed. same game.

an overaggro player opens utg. this means his cards are either paired, suited, or add up to at least 18. co (utg from hand 1) 3-bets. i cap on the button with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. blinds fold. utg and co call. 3 to the flop for 13.5 small bets.

flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

check. check. check. 3 to the turn for 6.75 big bets.

turn: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

utg bets. co calls. i call.

river: Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

utg bets. co calls. i call.

Just for hand 1:
Does "a relatively uninteresting player" mean incapable of making this move with a pocket pair or (but especially) with two cards with nothing on them? Without the spade I think I don't mind a fold, but with the flush hitting you have to check behind if intending to fold to this check raise. But maybe this play garnered all kinds of people taking shots at you, butI doubt they made up for(read IF) folding the best hand here.

All this of course bars me knowing about any reads you may have had...

Not played in a month. Feeling rusty. UB 80/160.

I'm sure you know your own depth better than me, but whats wrong with easing yourself back into it with some microlimits, like 30/60 or something?

As for the hands (Disclaimer: "I dont play that high but..."), fold in hand 1 is read/context dependent, and hand 2 looks good to me.

hand 2 look good. I think calling the river bet on hand 1 is totally read dependant. There are some players who I would call this against and some who I wouldn't.

Re: 2 hands

Am I the only one who dislike the flop check in hand 2? There is surely a decent chance of getting small pocket pairs to fold by continuing firing here, but checking this flop essentially gives it up.

I'm not good enough to comment on either of these hands, but I'm just curious as to why you checked the flop in the second hand?

I think you have to pay off in hand 1. You like to make big river folds....does this guy know that?

Hand 2 is weird IMO. CO's turn call makes me think he has a big one and want ed you to come along, but his river call doesn't. I think you are calling for half the pot here. Ugh. Bad spot. I dunno what to do.
