New desk suggestions

So my crappy $40 particle board desk I bought is starting to collapse. I need a new desk soon for fear of a 2001fp+floor related disaster.
I need enough room for 2 monitors, but half the cheap desks at Staples and such are those stupid hutch with builtin [censored] types. I was barely able to fit a 19" CRT on my current cheap desk+hutch, so definitely a single level desk this time. I don't give a [censored] about my desk being of the finest oak and would prefer to drop <$150. Anyone have any experience with the cheap glass L-desks? Like this one?

If you don't need drawers, why not just go with a solid banquet table (available in varying lengths)...

That looks kind of flimsy. If you can put a lot of weight on the store model, it might be ok.

I have one of these , and it's nice. Adjustable height is a big deal to me.

I was at Office Depot the other day and they have something very similar (maybe identical) to this. I decided that I didn't like it because: 1) I hate keyboard trays, 2) the table isn't very deep, 3) the piece with the keyboard tray is too small for 2 big monitors, 4) it didn't seem sturdy enough.

The furniture makers have no idea what a computer workstation should look like. I had a great one in my office in my last job--I think my illustrious predessor had it custom made. It was an L with legs about 4' and 6', but deeper than most desks/workstations. It was made out of particle board (with sort of a kitchen countertop veneer) and weighed a ton. Getting something like this made would be pretty expensive.

Go to Home Depot, get some Simpson Strong Tie RTC24s with matching screws, some 2x4s, and have them cut a sheet of 3/4" plywood whatever size you want. Build your own desk, any size, any height, any width you want. It ain't pretty, but it won't collapse.

I have two PCs, one notebook, four monitors (two of them big CRTs), a TV, a DVD recorder, an ink jet printer, and a bunch of other crap on mine.

Am I the only one that plays lying down in bet with my laptop?

That's what I use, actually, with another desk next to it making an L

My computer desk has always been an old door ... deep enough and strong enough ... propped up on each end with whatever I can find that makes it the right height. Right now one end sits on an old particle board TV stand and the other end is on the cardboard box my computer case came in.
