As of today, DVD-R discs are not playing

Odd thing happening with my computer today. Up until last night, I could watch DVD-R discs while playing poker without any hitches. Then, all of a sudden, today they play extremely slow. For example, it takes about 10 seconds, for 1 second of video to play. This is happening with both my DVD-R and my regular DVD drive, and its happening with 2 different media players. However, if I put in a CD disc to play a game off of, the game runs perfectly fine. Anyone had anything like this happen? It plays discs that I have watched in the past couple of days just as slow, so I am not sure what my next action should be.

1. I assume you've rebooted?
2. What happens when you try to play a standard DVD?

Yeah, I had rebooted. I fixed it, although I'm not quite sure why it worked.

I have 2 video cards and 3 monitors. I moved the media player from my LCD monitor (where i usually watch the movies), over onto one of my CRT's that is on the other video card. It played fine there. I moved it back, and now it is playing again.

No clue how to explain that, but I'm happy.
