a short thought on raising for information/defining your hand...

The next time you make a bet/raise with the primary purpose of "gaining information" or "defining your hand" or "finding out where you are at," stop. You are either a) misjudging the primary purpose of your bet/raise, or b) WA/WB.

There isn't an option c.

anyone who thinks they are raising for a single primary purpose is usually wrong anyway(except for a few scenarios with the nuts or a monster hand when it is clearly for pure value).

Of course. And if information is a secondary purpose of your raise, then fine. But many times I've read statements like "Oh, I raised to figure out where I was at," or "I bet here to define my hand." These statements indicate that something is wrong...either your bet/raise accomplishes something more important or you shouldn't have bet/raised at all because you were WA/WB.
