Where can we go to Invest?

I have just started a 401k with the company that i work for. Its really addicting. I would like to invest more money into 401 or things simmilar to it but it seems that my company 401 doesnt allow us to put in more than 10% of our pay.

Q. Where can i go to start long term investments? I have a general idea on what i want to invest in but i dont know where i can invest at. Thankx

its funny u wrote this as just last night i was reading about retirement funds.(Investing for dummies )
From what i understand is u can open up an IRA acount which is a retirement account. According to my book, these are tax deductible as well on ur deposits depending on ur income level.
Theres also a Roth IRA or IRA plus which are not tax deductible but the interest u accrue from them are shielded from taxes and from the withdrawal.

generally the book recommends exausting any retiremnet investment oppurtunities that have a tax deduction on ur contributions to them. Id look into those first.

I hope that helps

In addition to maxing out your 401K, you can open an IRA and/or regular account at any of the online brokers.

They are all pretty much the same. Go here and look for your self.

Personally, I use Scottrade for my IRAs because they don't charge maintenance fees for IRA accounts and all trades (other than pinksheets) are only $7. Scottrade
