Crappy top pair, big pot, puke.

NL 400 6 max, just sat down.

I open from UTG+1 or maybe CO with K9s to 14.

Button calls, bb calls, we all have around 400.

Kd 6h 7h flop, bb checks, I pot it. Button folds BB calls.

Turn offsuit 2. I haaaaaaate checking behind on a board like this, but maybe I have to do to how easy he can push me off with a draw/ because my hand sucks so much.

So.... Plan?

I play lower limits (25,50,100) but heres what i would do.

Hes either on a draw or has you beat. If you check here, you will either give him a free draw or anouce to him that your weak.

I always make the smallest bet here that I think will let him know I have somthing, perhaps am trying to keep him in. People will seldom call two bets in a row, then lead out on a bluff on a river.

I would bet half the pot, and hope to check behind the river. If he bets out on the river I lay it down. This works for me at lower limits.

On a side note. I wouldnt play K9s or raise with it. Just my preference.

I don't know if you have any data on this guy, but in a shorthanded game, I think solid players will call $10 to win $32 pf even if they will be OOP from there on. I think flop should be around 30 (aka 2/3rds to 3/4ths pot), not the full 42 in an effort to not have such a big turn decision. He calls it, making the pot 100 and not 120. That call is probably on a king of some sort, medium strength pocket pair (99 thru JJ I think), or any sort of quality draw. While I'd guess you are ahead, I don't really like the idea of shooting again on the turn and getting put to the test with a check raise, so I'll play along and check behind. River you can call any bet up to about 3/4ths the pot, and fold pretty much most bets that are higher, tending to call bets from non-flush rivers.

As an aside: Get Poker Tracker if you don't already have it, its invaluable at NL200 and above, because there is a higher percentage of regular, solid players in your pool.

Check behind and reevaluate the river. PF is standard.
