It's been 50 years since I wrote haiku in college freshman English class, but as I remember it is a metric of 5-7-5. Five syllables,followed by seven, followed by five. I could be wrong.

Isn't that what he's got? 5/7/5? I am assuming you should read 72 as SEVEN-TWO.
