Betting Boxing Question

Hello -

At the advice of this board, I bet the over in the Jones/Johnson match tonight. Over 10.5 rounds.

I know very little about boxing, and I know nothing about betting boxing. Since the o/u is 10.5 rounds, if the 11th round starts, does that count as "over". Or does it need to get half way through the 11th round?

I am curious, because Jones is starting to get beat, and I'm panicky.

The only problem with this logic is...it's flawed. See, if it goes to the 11th, then it went 10 rounds, not 10.5. So, technically, it should have to make it half way through the 11th round to get to 10.5.

Re: Betting Boxing Question

I understadn your thinking, but

10.5 means if the fight last longer then 10.5 rounds the over bet wins. As soon as the bell rings FOR the 11th round the over wins. If fighter gets knocked down at the end of the 10th and makes it to his feet before the 10 count and returns to his corner. The rounds is over, BUT THE BET IS NOT GOOD BECAUSE THE 11th HAS NOT STARTED YET. If his corner were to stop the fight (between rounds 10 and 11). It is a TKO at 3:00 of round 10, not a TKO at 0:00 of round 11. Hence the OVER 10.5 bet loses.

I hope this helps.

Posting blind here but if you have o10.5 the bet wins at the 1:31 mark of that round.
You didn't get a very good line though. When did you bet it? I am seeing 9.5 everywhere right now.

Not true. It is the 1:31 minute mark of the 10th round he wins.
