Wht is the advantage of knowing more games than texas

I am currently learning how to play stud and omaha. I am a winning texas player and dont know if i wasting time by learning these other games. Do you see any advantage in playing other games if you are a well expearienced texas player?

If you are learning stud and omaha then you probably already know that holdem can get boring. Also at some point holdem will start to lose popularity and it will be good to know another game just in case.

If you want to be a good poker player you should learn all of the games you can. Don't be afraid to try a new game. In casinos, they may have a table that is mixed. If you want to play at these tables, you are going to have to learn all of the different games they play. So it is good to learn all of the games you can.

By the way, have fun with OMAHA .

$,$,$. In omaha for example, an expert player makes ALOT more than an expert holdem player given the same blind structure.

My guess is that, right now, Texas Hold Em is the most profitable game because it is the game that everyone wants to play - so you get a lot more weak players at your table.

At Omaha or Stud, you are more likely to find yourself playing against better players.

I have also heard a few people say that Omaha Hi-Lo is probably the most difficult game to master.

Playing Pot Limit Omaha has made me a better holdem player. Also Omaha is much more math oriented - which I enjoy. The money is alot better too!

Your play begins to tighten up more. This is because in OMAHA, you usually need the best hand to win. If you were a loose and wild player in hold'em, this could help your play tremendously.

Re: Wht is the advantage of knowing more games than texas

I would suggest becoming a good player at a wide variety of games, for several reasons. If you only know hold'em, and you get invited to a home game with very weak players that is going to be seven-stud, you'll have to pass. Or if you're in a mixed game, you are going to get killed by someone whose knowledge of all games is only average. Also, as said before, there's always a chance that hold'em will lose it's popularity. Finally, if you're in a casino looking for a game and there's a really tough hold'em game and a really weak omaha game, a player average at both games will be better off then a very good hold'em player.
