Party\'s Collusion? Same player at 2 seats at same table??

So, I open up a Party table tonight...

Two players have oddly similar names: "gooseduck" and "gooseduck123".

Weird.

So, I check their locations. Both from "eugene" (!?!?)

Wtf??

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...PokerCheat.jpg

The odds of two complete strangers with such similar names, from the exact same town, sitting at the exact same table (out of around 70,000 players and 8,000 different tables) ..... ?

I think I should send Party off an email, no?

Of course you should mail Party.

Thanks. You know, I can't remember. I got it off someone from this site, though ... I'll see if I can dig it up.

Hello,

I opened up one of your tables tonight and noticed two players with oddly similar names: "gooseduck" and "gooseduck123."

I then noticed they were both from the same location: "Eugene".

This cannot be a coincidence.

Table: XXXXX $10/$20 (6 max).

Hands: #XXXXXXXXXX, #XXXXXXXXXX, #XXXXXXXXXX

I witnessed the above three hands before they both left, but they were both sitting out for those hands. Regardless, you should be able to look up those hands that occured prior and see if there was any collusion, etc.

I find this especially strange since Party is supposed to have software that prohibits a player from sitting at the same table under two different seats.

I would like to be notified of the result of this inquiry.

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you.

If these guys are colluding, don't you think they would be smarter than to make it so obvious? I am not saying cheats are smart, but this is just dumb.

it's just really odd, though.

Definitely not a coincidence.

Maybe they know each other and it is some sort of practical joke by one against the other. Party will sort it out.

Playerview - which projects PokerTracker stats onto the table.

You'd think they'd be smarter than that.

I wonder what a good bb/100 for a colluder is, lol.

Re: Party\'s Collusion? Same player at 2 seats at same table??

Please keep us informed. This looks very suspicious. It could be a "husband-wife" situation. Most likely its one guy who uses his wifes/gf name to make 2 accounts under one IP address. In this case without direct collusion evidence, I think its legal under their terms and aggreement. Unfortunatly.

Re: Party\'s Collusion? Same player at 2 seats at same table??

My memory from 2 years ago still recalls Gooseduck123 as one of my favorite donaters. I'm pretty sure you would want to do what you can to keep him at your table. If you want to be friendly with him and get him at your table more often ask him if he's got any good sports bets or who to root for this weekend.

Re: Party\'s Collusion? Same player at 2 seats at same table??

Maybe: a few years ago when there were fewer accounts at party, a guy spots gooseduck123 and determines that he is a total fish. The guy observes him for a couple of days and notices that he has a deep bankroll. In order to isolate this gigantic fish, the guy creates a screen name gooseduck and fakes his location to "Eugene" so people will avoid sitting down on their table, and he can get a nice heads up action.

How can you even ask whether to report this?

Dude keep us posted.

Re: Party\'s Collusion? Same player at 2 seats at same table??

1. report this, there is no harm in doing so.

2. It's not necesarily collusion. I have been at a table with a friend before while 8 tabling who was playing with a StacysMom### name, and same local as me. We might not even notice for 10 mins or whatever when I see the chat has been discussing it for the last 10 hands. We never did any collussion. I wouldn't mind if every player at the table reported us. Its the right thing to do, however, I had no fear of getting in trouble as "the truth will set you free."

Re: Party\'s Collusion? Same player at 2 seats at same table??

As someone else mentioned, they probably both have something to do with the univeristy of oregon (in eugene) - team nickname is the ducks if I remember correctly.

Anyway, still suspicious, let us know how it turns out.

primetime32 09-30-2005 09:45 AM

Re: Party\'s Collusion? Same player at 2 seats at same table??

I would guess that its not collusion. If two people are going to collude i highly doubt they would use the same name and town while sitting at the same table. They could be friends who want to play together. And as far as i know, that is not against the rules.

Re: Party\'s Collusion? Same player at 2 seats at same table??

i have a similar story as far as locations go. I was 8 tabling and some guy kept saying, '<my name> winterville north carolina????' Finally i saw it and replied, 'yep.' checked his location and said, 'small world' then closed then sat out on half my tables so i could see if i knew the guy.

My town has a population of like...15..which makes it super wierd.

UPDATE & found that table mod

First the table mod link can be found in this old thread:

LINK

Hopefully, the link still works - and I think it does.

Secondly, here is Party's response:

[ QUOTE ]
Dear Adam,

Thank you for contacting us.

With reference to your email, we wish to inform you that the players
"gooseduck" and "gooseduck123" are two different players and have not
played a single hand 'together' at our site. We agree with you that they
come from the same location. However, as mentioned before they have
been with us for a considerable amount of time and have never played at
the same tables. It is also possible that they know each other. This
could explain why they sat out in the hands you have mentioned as they do
not play at the same tables.

We thank you for reporting your suspicions to us. Please feel free to
write back to us if you need more clarification in this regards.

Contact us anytime, we are available around the clock to assist you
with your account related questions and suggestions.

Sincerely,

Chaitanya

I can say with 95% certainty that it's ok, and your account will not be closed.

The sites seem to only have problems with programs like Poker Edge, etc ... where data sharing occurs.

Re: Party\'s Collusion? Same player at 2 seats at same table??

The other thing suspicious is that their stats are nearly identical (I checked my dbase too)

And it appears that they both probably bought into the game for far more than the standard $500 which is uncommon.

Add those two things in there and I think there is no way that these guys do not at least talk poker strategy together. Hopefully after the hands are over.

Hmm, when I lived in Greenville, I was under the impression that Winterville had way more than 15 people. Did everybody leave after the flooding?

It had way more than the town that I grew up in, and my town had a college (Davidson).

edit: um...the town still has a collge, damn these tenses!

It does have to be said that Party low limits is chock full of Stacysmumsxxx ladylucks (or luckylady) and goats.

As to the possible collusion aspect and would two people working as a team sit down with the same names and locations...

If i have learnt one thing, and one thing only, never underestimate the stupidity of colluders.

I don't know if I would have complete faith in Party to serve justice.

They don't give a whit about upholding the rules, what they are more interested in keeping people happy. If enough people reported you as cheating I have no doubt they would take action.

I just hope that the action would be asking for a name change, rather than just banning.

Great mod. Only problem is during a S&G or tournament, you can't see how many hands before it goes to the next level so I've changed it a little.

I'd upload it but it's not my mod.
