Grammy Nominations

I don't know other OOTer's opinions, but I remember when Grammy nominations and awards went out to the best and most innovative artists of the year.

Seems like now, it's a re-hashing of the Billboard Top 100 chart. It's a real shame that the voters don't recognize real talent in music-making anymore.

Nomination List

I mean really, Mariah Carey with 8 nominations? Now Kanye West I can see, but if he wasn't so popular, he probably wouldn't have been nominated.

Sorry, needed to vent about the sad state of popular music...

Is there an award show that doesn't suck? Nominations please.

I can't really think of one, Oscars are the best we got though, and those still kinda suck.

I think the Golden Globes are probably better than the Oscars, its voted on by the foriegn press and doesn't succumb to all of the political campaigning of Hollywood.

In all seriousness, I don't believe that this ever occurred and would have to see some sort of proof.

If such an era ever existed, it was short-lived.

I meant this to the extent of widely available music - obviously there is much better music out there each year, but now it seems to be strictly measured by popularity, or as sad as it is, if someone dies.

Close. But instead of 'probably right', that should read 'definitely wrong'.

The only thing the Globes have going for them is that almost everyone gets plastered.
In terms of the integrity of the decisions makers, it's not the 'foreign press' it's the 'Hollywood Foreign Press'®. What's the difference? The difference is that the Hollywood Foreign Press is actually just a private club of less than 100 filthy rich individuals with zero credentials in journalism, film, television or any other form. The only thing they have is money.

Google it, it's common knowledge.
