Does it also bother you when someone wishes you a Happy B-Day? It's the sentiment that counts. It's just annoying that the people I hear this from are usually right-wing religious whackos looking for something to be offended about.

Actually sir, x-mas is accepted short form for christmas, would you argue that there is no such word as "can't" or "etc." because they should always be cannot and etcetera? Also, stop taking a dump on the spirit of the thing you are trying to defend, christmas is about togetherness and brotherhood, not semantics. Be gone from this thread, you know neither your place nor yourself.

Mods, can I ask that his last post be deleted and he be kept off this thread? I know he has a right to express himself, but it goes aginst what I was trying to achieve with the thread, and he is slinging insults at me. Thanks. If not then I put the following up for debate:

*?

Telling me I know neither myself, nor my place, because I wished you a Merry Christmas, and not a Merry Xmas, is insulting to me. Now go run home and tell mommy and daddy that the big bad internet tough guy is being a meanie. Im done with pandering to you making something out of nothing. To all a good night.

So where is everyone celebrating? Also, do you open presents on Christmas eve or the morning of the 25th?

I'm celebrating at my parnets appartment with cousins, a sister, my nephew and an aunt. Here we give presents on christmas eve, which all my friends find strange, I think it's a european thing, not sure.

I thought the substitution of X for Christ goes back to some old engligh bible known as the Chi-Ro bible where Chi and Ro are denoted by greek letters most similar to X and R in english. I'm pretty much grasping at straws from my intro to Art history class 4 years ago, so can anyone back me up here?

I wish I were in America so I could actually watch the debate on this stuff, seems hilarious, I get my dosage of it from the daily show though. Jon Stewart's segment where he admits to being the person behind the war on christmas was hilarious, great satire.

Allow me to outnit the nit here.

Xmas actually originated in Greek language as an abbreviation for X'temmas long before Christmas (or even the English language) existed. It's only in the last few decades that religious nuts decided it's some sort of conspiracy to take the "Christ" out of Christmas.

So merry Xmas, bitches.

And I'll outnitpick the nitpicker's outnitpicker: It's actually derived from the words Our Christ in Greek, which is Christe mas.

Even the wikipedia entry does not have the complete explanation! link

Is this two gingerbread having doggie style sex?

Or did the gingerbread man, let's call him John, luck out and end up next to a gingerbread girl who was a pro now an' he prepositioned her for sex. In no time he was gingerly removing her clothes. After getting her down on all fours, he tried to give her his ginger rail from behind, but they found neither could perform because both were REALLLLY baked. Not to be discouraged in his last chance at some cookie, John bashed himself in the mouth with his stub, and let the blood drip down to act as a lubricant. Drip. Drip. Drip.

Merry Christmas
