I duno but this is obviously ESPN trying to emulate their Poker broadcast success. Same hokey music in the opening, same white bread Lon McEachern. Fortunately Scrabble is a dull game to watch or play at a high level.

PaulP was there, threatening to "buy and sell your sorry asses" if they didn't make 'RYSAZZT' a legal word. CrisBrown was on the rail, alternating between asking Paul to put her in, as this is her "best game", and screaming in the direction of the Hello Kitty tennis shoes sticking out from under the table to "Get out from under there!"

It isn't trying to emulate the poker success, it's maintaining the tradition of airing tons of silly stuff like the national spelling bee and world's strongest man.
