100NL : KK with allin player, side pot action with A

Pretty standard KK play, but shortie gets allin and I have a live side pot. I'm wondering how side pot play here is affected by the allin on the main pot.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 10 handed) internettexasholdem.com
hand converter is messing up so bear with me

BB ($98)
UTG ($109.25)
UTG+1 ($98) (Villain)
UTG+2 ($30)
MP1 ($99)
MP2 ($0)
MP3 ($15.90) (Shortie)
CO ($61.50)
Button ($61.10)
Hero ($116.82)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG+2 posts a blind of $1. Hero posts a blind of $0.50.
UTG calls $1, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 raises to $6</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, MP3 calls $6, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero (SB) raises to $23.5</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, UTG+1 (Villain) calls $18, MP3 (Shortie) calls allin

Flop: 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>

Hero bets $24 , Villain folds

Villain has been pretty solid, so must have QQ or AK. Shortie has been very loose, so can have any pair or Ax or worse. Does betting here accomplish anything other than pay off AK ? Maybe I should just try to check it down? I may have to call bets since Villain may well bet a hand like QQ or JJ.

Great question cbloom,

This situation is entirely read dependent. You state:

When you say
[ QUOTE ]
Villain has been pretty solid, so must have QQ or AK.

[/ QUOTE ]
Villain's range is AA, AK, the other KK, or QQ I think this bet becomes extremely marginal. Given that villain is solid, I think this becomes a clear check.

Putting Opponent's ranges into Pokerstove I get

2,373,084 games 0.797 secs 2,977,520 games/sec

Board: Ac 8c 6h
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 23.1119 % 21.32% 01.79% { KdKs }
Hand 2: 24.9426 % 24.57% 00.37% { 22+, A2s+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, ATo+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo }
Hand 3: 51.9456 % 49.99% 01.96% { QQ+, AKs, AKo }

Adding JJ to villain's range only increases your equity by 8%. Against a very aggro who will bet here with a smaller pair I like betting a lot. In your situation, check, you said it yourself you're ahead of only one or two of villain's possible range.
