an entirely unpleasant TT hand heads-up
Is there any other way to play this hand? I was grimacing

Re: an entirely unpleasant TT hand heads-up
Yeah, value bet the river.
Psyche. Don't feel so bad. If he has you crushed, reflect upon this: You collect a lot more if roles are reversed. That means you're +EV, baby! |
Re: an entirely unpleasant TT hand heads-up
i agree, bet the river.

Re: an entirely unpleasant TT hand heads-up
what hands do I beat that would call me?
|
Re: an entirely unpleasant TT hand heads-up
Call me crazy, but what would a value bet accomplish? I think Hero played this fine. Look at it from the perspective of Villian.
Villian is three-bet pre-flop. Flop comes down like it does, and Villian is still around until the river, even after Hero has played this aggressively the whole way heads-up. No way am I betting again. Villian probably is holding KQ suited, and is praying Hero has Queens or Jacks. If Villian has not laid this down by now, he ain't ever going to. |
Re: an entirely unpleasant TT hand heads-up
I dont see the vaule in betting the river.
Name a hand that the villan will call with that the hero can beat? |
Re: an entirely unpleasant TT hand heads-up
This hand is fine.

Re: an entirely unpleasant TT hand heads-up
i see the error in my ways, you are right, there really is no point in betting the river here. you will lose to almost any hand that calls here.
i learned something. |
Re: an entirely unpleasant TT hand heads-up
Folding preflop is reasonable without a read. Playing would be good if this is an aggressive player who open-raises more hands from MP1. But most 2/4 players don't do that.
The turn 9 is another bad card because it makes 99. Given his PFR and flop call you are now ahead of essentially nothing. Furthermore if he is calling you down with a weak hand like JJ he is going all the way. He didn't call the flop just to draw to two outs. You are getting 4.75-1 on your turn bluff and a checkraise to kill your two outs is fairly likely. How can bluffing the turn be profitable? The alternative is to check the turn and fold the river. This wins if you spike a ten. If he has a weaker hand such as 88 many players will check the river and let you win. There is a moderate amount of EV in doing nothing. I don't see how investing another BB can do better. |
Re: an entirely unpleasant TT hand heads-up
I think the river check is fine... After all typical hands that u see play pre flop as villian did are QQ-99. AK,AQ,AJ,KQ, none of which u are beating. The bet on the turn is read dependent, if u think there is a reasonable chance he folds KQ here, its fine , otherwis i like the check it through and hope to spike a T, or else fold the river.
