Party 15/30 BR - How much is enough?

The conventional wisdom for B&M at 15/30 used to be 300 BB. I have read here that some suggest 500 BB, but after reading DR's -510 BB downswing post, I am not so sure that even 500 BB is enough.

So my question:

How many big blinds is enough?

Thanks

Just so you know, BB=Big bets, not big blinds.

First of all its not big blinds. Its big BETS. so 300 is 9k and 500 is 15k. Id say 15k is more than sufficient for a winning player. I think the 510BB downswing was just a freakishly huge one, maybe mixed with some bad play.

First, in bankroll terms BB refers to Big Bets. GoT suggested a long time ago that because the PP 15/30 game is aggressive and variance rich that he would suggest $15K, not the traditional $9K is a big enough roll. This is probably very good advice and has gradually taken the sheen near fact.

I'm always confused by these bankroll discussions.

You would need more than 15k if you wanted to play this game as your main source of income assuming you wanted to have stuff like an apartment and healthcare and you weren't willing to drop down if you hit a bad patch.

If you're not playing the game as your main income source, then you probably need less since the money is renewable and you can step down if you need to.

Good advice. If you are playing to supplement your income then 10K is probably fine.

If you are playing for a living then 15K is a bare minimum along with 6 months bills in the bank.

Yeah but who the hell wants to go through the hell of stepping down?

If you're not willing to step down, even 500 is not big enough. I mean, what happens if you catch a run of crap and go -250BB? Then all you have is 250BB and shaken confidence.

nono you misunderstand - i just meant that with a larger BR there is much less chance of having to step down.

And then there's the people who don't play it as their main income source, but can't replenish their rolls either
