Dont turn your hand faceup for cheap

PP 6-max 2/4

Hero has just gone on a mini streak of hands ... got KK, called a 2-bet preflop and check-raised a 443 board and got-all in with QQ and hit a K on the turn to make certain to get to 800.
Then myself and another villain got all in each with AK on an A-high board.

This is the 3rd hand in the series.

Hero is button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Villain 1 has been raising to 10 with his really good hands, 15 with his big unpaired cards, and minraising with some other stuff that I havent seen yet
Villain 2 I dont have much on

Villain 1 has 300, hero has 800 and villain 2 has 400

Prelfop
1 limper to villain 1 who minraises, folded to hero who makes it 30, villain 2 minraises to 52, villain 1 folds ... hero thinks, and decides to call with nearly 100 in the pot and having to call 22 more. Can beat 5:1, and I have position.

Flop (Pot 122 or so)
K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Villain checks, hero checks

Turn (Pot 122 or so)
A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Villain bets 55, hero calls

River (Pot 232 or so)
Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Villain bets 70, hero pushes ... whats villain got ...and what does he do ? ... and who likes heros play ?

Whatever villain has, he's played it very oddly. I can't think of any hands he'd be correct to check the flop with. QQ or AQ?

Villain has a set, villain isn't getting away from his set, check the flop easy, call 55 to win the rest of his cash easy, I very much doubt hes folding.

He calls and shows KK?

Would villain really check a flopped set on an unsafe board when he would be expected to continuation bet anyway?

Hmm. Maybe a lot of players would. It can't be correct to check a set here can it?

It's not correct, but your assuming a lot if you think every 2-4 player plays correctly.

I agree with this read. The fact is people check sets when they shouldn't all day long. Him min-raising your big preflop raise has AA or KK written all over it. I don't think he's checking that flop with AA. I also think you're getting paid off by pushing, good play.

I don't really like reraising the minraise with AJs. Anyway, preflop aside, this looks pretty standard. I hope you told him "nice slowplay".

It's perfect no matter what he has but he probably has KK in which case you're not getting another dime or AA in which case you're stacking him.

Edit: Oops, messed up board. Either KK or AA is donating here. Didn't realise that there was a K on the board, too.

Nice hand. Even if he pots the turn, it is a clear call, correct? Implied odds giving you 5 - 1 and given his hand range you are positive he will pay off.

KK does seem most likely, though I think there's an outside chance of AK. You played it fine.
