good forum for computer tech help....?

Hello

I need help finding a good forum to solve computer problems. Or anyone in Vancouver who can give me a good rate to take a look.

My desktop is getting worse. Now upon startup it goes through the normal processes and then i end up getting a completely black screen with just the cursor that i can move around with the mouse. (doing this now on the laptop)

Perhaps i fried something when i tried to install my d-link wireless pci adapter. The problems all started from that day including losing the ability to system restore.

Thanks

rJ

The forums at www.sharkyextreme.com can be very good, but you may have to post more than once, as the forums get a lot of traffic and your post can get pushed a couple pages back in the space of a morning.

Is that wireless pci card for wireless "G"? I had a similar problem with my dad's computer trying to install wireless "G". The specs on the box for the netgear pci card stated that the system requirements were a pentium3 class computer; my dad's computer is an atlon and I wasn't sure if it was a pentium3 compatible. I tried the card anyways and had similar problems to what you're describing. I removed the card and went back to wireless "B".

In any case, try removing the card.

Very interesting. My desktop is athlon and it is wireless G. Once i figure out how to get through startup enough to get to the desktop i will return the card and try B or something compatible to athlon.

Thanks

You realy should go somewhere other than here for PC help. The links that Jac. put together are very good.

Good Luck
