An interesting quote

Hi, I never come in here because you are all politards, but I found this quote interesting.

Every collectivist revolution rides in on a Trojan horse of "emergency". It was the tactic of Lenin, Hitler, and Mussolini. In the collectivist sweep over a dozen minor countries of Europe, it was the cry of men striving to get on horseback. And "emergency" became the justification of the subsequent steps. This technique of creating emergency is the greatest achievement that demagoguery attains. — Herbert Hoover.

And no, this isn't a 9/11 conspiracy theory post.

If it isn't, then what are you trying to imply here?

I thought it could spark discussion.

I meant it was not a 9/11 conspiracy theory, as I do not believe the US gov't had anything to do with the planes flying into buildings. I wanted to be clear that it wasn't a 9/11 conspiracy as that is the first thing many would think of.

I do believe that they have created an "emergency" out of the aftermath. Our civil rights have been eroded in the name of security.

The original quote could apply to gun control, WMD's and decency/morality. Any number of recent or historic events, policies or beliefs actually.

I expect you righties to give examples of us lefties creating false emergencies. It's naturally more difficult to see the flaws of something I agree with, than something I disagree with.

My intent wasn't to start a biased and one-sided political argument against a certain political party. That's why this forum usually sucks. I'm a registered dumbocrat btw.

Well Zephed, I'm a "rightie" and I completely agree with you. We just had a kid here in Michigan convicted under the Terrorist Act for talking about how he wants to go shoot up his school. Didn't act on. Just talked about it. He will be spending many decades behind bars in the name of "Homeland Security".
I find it very frustrating that there are so many people in this country who willingly give up their freedoms and rights in return for a false sense of security.
