Simulations: TTHE vs Poker Academy

Has anyone tried both of these pieces of software for simulations? If so, which is better? (I only want to buy one)

Lets say, I am looking to try to model my opponents, and then come up with a reasonable open rasing range from X position, and so on.

Thanks

Re: Simulations: TTHE vs Poker Academy

I haven't used Wilson's TTHE in some time. It may have improved since then.

Poker Academy has the best AI; the players can model their opponents. Caeddyn coded a hand converter for the Poki hand histories. They can now be imported into Poker Tracker. The statistical analysis of PT is probably superior to whatever TTHE offers, at the very least it is comparable as a benchmark to your own stats, assuming you use PT.

I don't know if there are any features to TTHE that Poker Academy can not also duplicate. If there are the Poki team is dedicated to improving their software and may well add them if requested.

So, yeah, I recommend Poker Academy Pro.

I own both. Do you have a specific question?

I've been playin some low limit headsup and enjoying it plenty. Of course there's not much book learning to be done for this.

Worth the hundred bucks for the pro version if I wanna put in hours and hours of effort? I'm guessing it's gotta be better for my bankroll than teaching myself at 2/4 or 3/6, but I'd love an opinion of someone who's tried to improve their heads up game through this.

Thanks

The main problem with Poker Academy Pro is that with poker being available online you have to motivate yourself to spend time playing on Poker Acadmey. The headsup bots are in my opinion the strongest features of the program. Has my headsup improved? Some, but I'm still learning and I need to invest a lot more time in it as well.

Re: Simulations: TTHE vs Poker Academy

I like PA...
Because I can play 200 hands/hour or more...
And work on my weak areas...
(Aggression and post flop play)...
With no pressure.

Winning/losing psychology is interesting.

I make about $500+/day on average trading on the NYSE...
But if I lose $50 at $2/$4 Party Poker...
It's amazingly depressing.

And because my typical trade might be $20,000-$30,000...
To make $100 profit...
I can't bear to move down from the $2/$4 tables.

So Poker Academy is perfect for me.

I believe the new "Stacked" game coming out this summer uses the Poki AI engine.

yeah, I do. A couple actually. for the TTHE, did you benefit from running the simulations? For example, profit between limping in with AK on button in loose game vs. raising.

And which one did you benefit from most? thanks
