Vegas Trip Planning/Accomodations

I did this post in off-topic, but haven't got any responses.

I believe this is slightly on-topic here, as I will be staying at B&M casino hotels. Any help/advice is appreciated.

AllVegasPoker has a section on poker room rates that are hard to beat. I stayed in the Sahara, really enjoyed their low key poker room, and the rate was great!

"Hello Wynn Hotel? Transfer me to poker room please."

"Hi Wynn Poker Room. I'd like to reserve a room at the poker rate."

Thanks I will check into that. Right now the best deals I'm seeing are $550 including flight from NJ for 4 nights @ Golden Nugget. Seems like a steal, I can deal with not sleeping on the strip.

Somehow I doubt the OP is going to be staying at the Wynn anytime soon. Although my last trip there did only cost me $29 (I got the super special poker rate).

As for the $550 deal, that seems like a [censored] deal to me and not just because you would have to stay at the nugget.

Any real reason for dissing the Golden Nugget thing? If you have valid complaints I'd be interested to hear them.

As far as luxury goes, I don't really care. I'm going to Vegas to play $1/$2 NL, pull all nighters, and maybe sleep an hour if I get time. Since I'm a vegetarian, I couldn't possibly care less where the best Crabcake or Steak can be found.

I plan on playing a few tournaments or sit n' goes at Binion's, and as far as 1/2 goes, I'm sure it's easy to find a good game anywhere. I'm going to visit the Rio to rail-bird a little also.

Golden Nugget is a very nice hotel, definitely the best downtown. But, IMO, there is something be said about sleeping on the strip within walking distance of so much more action. Places like Flamingo, Bally's, Imperial Palace, etc, are all reasonable and in much better location.

But, if you stay at Nugget, there is a very convenient bus (like $2) that goes to the strip frequently. It stops at all the major properties and leaves at the end of Freemont Street (across from El Cortez). Basically, leave Golden Nugget and walk straight, past 4 Queens, etc to the end of that sidewalk and you'll see it.
