It's not like that draft was filled with studs.

I hope this post was intentionally stoopid.

OK. I won't debate the depth of the 1970 NFL draft with you, especially since that wasn't really the point of my post.

Well, yeah, I agree with the point that the coin flip thing is stupid but you seem to have some pent-up tragic attitude over a move done by your favorite football team that wasn't exactly horrible.

It's hard to think anyone that Chicago would've taken would have actually had a big impact on the team.

Two hall of famers were taken in the draft. The aforementioned, unavialabel Bradshaw, and Mel Blount who went 53rd overall.

but that tiny percentage of an awesome team getting the first pick is lame.

how does an awesome team miss the playoffs?

1. The subject of the original post was how tie-breakers determine draft order. My post was merely to tell about how the Bears lost out on a Hall of Fame quarterback in the '70 draft based on a coin flip...pretty interesting for a team that hasn't had a quarterback since Sid Luckman. The quality of others that came out of that draft are irrelevant.

2. Are we really determining the strength of a draft class based on how many Hall of Famers it produces?

Well, no, but there really isn't very good record keeping for football statistics available on the internet. I can't just look up how many tackles Mike McCoy had, but his career wasn't exactly illustrious. Go down the list of players the Bears would've selected and you'll find that none of them were impact players.

I thought the Packers have the inside line on Reggie Bush assuming they lose and Houston beats SF?

Green Bay is a real long shot. Most likely the #1 pick will be Houston or New Orleans depending on if Houston wins. New Orleans is a virtual lock to have to the lowest strength of schedule out of the potential 3-13 teams. Slow day at work, here are the scenarios for each team to end up with the top pick:

New Orleans:Lose and Hou win and none of the scenarios below happen

Houston:
1.Lose or
2.NYG, ARI, NYJ, DET, TB, GB, HOU and STL win and BAL, KC or JAX win or
3.NO wins, and scenarios below don't happen

NY Jets:
1.Lose 2 remaining games, NO & HOU win next week and IND, PIT, SEA & STL must win more games next week than OAK, BAL, KC & JAX. or
2.NYG, CLE, BUF, CIN, DET, TB, GB, HOU, IND, TEN & STL win next week

Green Bay:OAK, IND, BUF, PIT, NO, SEA, HOU, WAS & STL all must win next week and at least 2 of BAL, KC & JAX need to win

San Fran:Can not end up with #1 pick

Which team is the worst? Texans or 49ers? I would still have to say the 49ers. What a waste of a pick Alex Smith was.
