Why don\'t you play No Limit?
 

Why do you guys play low limit and structured games? I'm not knocking it, because I play limit as well, just wanted to know why most of you don't play it. Most of the people that play even small stakes No Limit make much more than limit players. So what is being the reasoning of playing Limit instead of No Limit?

Given that 8PTBB/100 at 25NL = 4BB/100 at .5/1, I would have thought the win rates were comparable.

I just like the pace of the different games. Limit is still very profitable, just with a lot more variance than NL.

I mix my play up a lot. Some days I'll play limit, some days NL and some days short handed games too, or a mixture of them. Just keeps it more interesting for me.

I've found NL to be more profitable in terms of BB/100, but the pace of the game is slower. Sometimes I don't feel like playing a slow game.

Because I'm an idiot. I thought that limit would be the way to reduce swings. Turns out it's actually no limit. And since I'm so stubborn, I'm going to master limit before I move on to no limit. Should give me a firm grasp of poker theory and variance. So it's mostly a discipline issue for me. I could move to no limit now, but I want to learn as much as I can, so I'll move to no limit when I start beating the Party 30/60.

I play .01/.02 nl on Ultimate bet. Does that count?

Well I can't really back it up personally, just what other people say. I've been reading posts and it is the general consensus that no limit cash games are more profitable than limit. 3bb/100 is very very good in a limit game, while I repeatedly read posts of no limit players who routinely make 4 times as much as this.

I'm beating NL25 for almost 20BB/100 over the last 5k hands (so that would be 10BB/100 if you compare it to .5/1). The sample is small, but really the play is so bad at NL25 that I expect to be able to maintain close to this winrate. People will often blow their whole stacks with stupid all in calls.

I just started opened a NL 10 at Stars for shi[/i]ts and giggles. This is kinda fun.

If any of you are thinking of giving No Limit a shot, this might provide some encouragement.

Here's an example of some typical NL25 action. I debated pushing on the river cause I didn't think he would call such a big raise, but then I remembered that it's NL25. He doesn't think that maybe his hand isn't good at the point that someone shoves all their money at you, he just goes ahead and calls.

I think these players are so afraid that you're bluffing them that they try and pick you off. It's hard NOT to make money here.

(As for the open limp from CO, well, it's not limit. Most of the big pots are won with sets. If I do flop a set, I have huge implied odds because I'm playing for their stacks, not just the pot. I don't want to raise them out and pick up a 35 cent pot when a little patience can yield something much better.)
