Are you saying that the competition in these is easier than a regular $22 MTT? I've just entered my first one

I wonder why they have them only under the SNG tab.

Are these still counting for TLB points?

They are also under the Tourney/All tab just so you know.

I'd say so. I nailed 4th place in my first one and everyone knows I'm a weak tight ninny.

These things are amazing. They have the structure of an MTT but the players play them like a cheap SNG. They should be fairly profitable for any decent MTTer.

Thank you for pointing that out, last night they were grouped differently. But now I know, and knowing is half the battle. GI Joe...

Re: 180 player SNG all day long now!

I actually wish they WOULDN'T have lower buy ins for these things. The players are playing them like cheap SNG's. The players who happen to have smaller skill levels might be more inclined to move down limits if they are offered. Which makes for tougher games at the 20's or above (if they offer them).

What do you think the chances are we will see a 10 dollars or even a GASP 1 dollar one? The one dollar ones would be sweet to play in for us beginning players.

Re: 180 player SNG all day long now!

I took first a week or so ago, and it took right about 4 to 4 1/2 hrs. Not too bad compared to some larger MTTs

Brad F. 11-08-2005 06:13 PM

Re: 180 player SNG all day long now!

I've only played two of these, but I'll echo the thoughts of others:

I have NEVER seen such horrid play in the $20 SNG's, whether it be 1 or 2 tables. Those playing these games are usually players looking to slowly build a bankroll playing the $20's consistently until their roll is good to move up a level.

The 180 personn SNG's seem to be a lottery for a lot of the entrants. They see the big prize at the end, they see it titled a SNG, and take many more chances than they would normally.

Again, I've only played two, but every flush draw was chased, gutshots called all the time, et cetera....

I'm such a big fan of having these all day on the weekends. I sometimes have 5 hours to do a tourney but 3 hours is much more managable.

Thank you Stars!

Brad

It was a really long battle. Once we got 5 way it took a good hour to get down to 3. From there it was pretty fast.

bingo. I love poker as much as the next guy, but playing for six hours only to win a couple buy-ins back really sucks. I have taken one third and one tenth in the dozen or so i've played. gimme a "'sup, bro!" if you see me in 'em...

Do you guys play these in a style similar to a regular MTT, or do you start off real tight like you do at the beginning of a one table Sit N Go?

11-09-2005 01:03 AM

Gonna try one....

Transferred some money in, so am going to give one of these a shot

They do seem to fill up quick. Let's see if I can cash in one of these things....

You basically have to play to win like in an MTT. Playing survival strategy of playing tight and staying out of trouble won't work. These are like MTTs on smaller sites.

There tends to be a lot of loose action early on as in any online tournament that is not high buyin. Obviously, I don't get involved in hands without a reason.
